Secretary Treasurer -Peter Taylor - Civic Facility
Peter has been with the TOL since 1991. Early in his career he became involved on various social and staff committees. The greatest impact on him has been the friendships he has developed over the years. Everyone has a story to tell. Regardless of one's background, we all have something to offer.
Initially hesitant to become involved in the union, he finds it both rewarding and fulfilling. Starting as a Shop Steward in the main hall, Peter finally found his niche. As Secretary Treasurer, he has kept the local in good stead. Focusing on the details and day to day finances, Peter has remained loyal to the local. Overseeing the books and finances, he is committed to keeping the local on a firm financial footing.
Lifelong learning is one of Peter's goals. Learning through books, learning through friends, learning through experiences. One of Peter's favourite sayings is "You get out what you put in." With the new members on the Executive, Peter feels the Local is stronger than ever.
Enjoying the challenges of balancing work and family life, Peter is married with two teenagers. Reminiscent of his teenage years, he appreciates his parents, more now than ever.
Of his many activities outside of work, fighting fires, and savings lives remains one of his passions. Joining the fire department in 2001, he enjoys mentoring the new recruits. Early Tuesday mornings, Peter can be found at the local Starbucks, sipping coffee and enjoying conversation in a men's group. Saving time for fishing, Peter also enjoys sharing the story of the fish that got away. Ultimately, his goal is to have world peace, love, and clarity.
Shoot for the moon and if you don't make it; at least you will land among the stars.
