President's Message

Prior to taking on the President’s role, I have been very active as a union executive, first as the Member-at-Large for Operation, then Recording Secretary, and currently as the First Vice President. I was fortunate enough to be selected to sit on the bargaining committee for the 2021-2024 CUPE 403 Collective Agreement. I have also been appointed to several CUPE BC Committees and finished two terms with the Pink Triangle and Young Worker’s Committees. I am still part of CUPE BC’s Environment Committee and was recently accepted as one of twelve CUPE members across Canada into the Labour Relations Certificate program. This training in addition to my education from BCIT in Leadership, Labour Relations, and Administration have been extremely helpful in supporting members in various grievance meetings, job reclassifications, respectful workplace investigations and mediations. 

Before joining the union executive I worked as an auxiliary and then temporary full-time employee in Recreation before moving to a regular full-time position with Engineering Business Support at Operations. Working various positions has allowed me time to get to know so many of our members and to hear about their own experiences. I am always open to helping others improve their workplace concerns and look forward to connecting with many more of you in the future.
