We’re currently seeking members to join our team of Stewards. This is an opportunity to support your coworkers, enhance your skills, and play a key role in our collective efforts. 

As a Steward, you will serve as the primary point of contact for members within your designated area, providing support, disseminating information, and advocating for their interests. 

Primary responsibilities include:

  • enforcing the Collective Agreement
  • facilitating communication between members and the Executive Board
  • distributing Union literature to worksites
  • encouraging member engagement
  • educating members.

Purpose:

Address auxiliary employee concerns, improve communication and education, ensure representation of auxiliary employees’ unique concerns and interests, and make recommendations to the Executive Board and Membership.

Purpose:

Formulate and amend bylaw wording as directed by the Executive Board or Membership. Propose changes to ensure conformity with the National Constitution. Submit proposals to the Executive Board for recommendation. Prepare an annual written report; monthly reports are not required.

The committee will be focus on strengthening CUPE Local 403 both internally and externally within the community. Attending and representing at events and activities where CUPE Local 403’s reputation is enhanced in the community.

Purpose:

The committee will represent members by supporting them in meetings and advocating for their workplace rights and obligations under the collective agreement. Members will attend meetings as required, document proceedings through detailed notes, and assist in resolving workplace issues. They will also act as liaisons between members and the employer to ensure effective communication and address concerns.

Purpose:

The committee will bring awareness to important political issues and make reports to the membership through communications and meetings. Collaborate with the Executive Board to draft press releases and other publicity materials. Work in partnership with the public relations departments of CUPE to support and implement the policies of both the Local and CUPE. It will collaborate with the Executive Board to advance CUPE Local 403’s political priorities.
